Hugh
Campbell – Guitar & Lute Vicky Campbell - Flute
- Hugh
and Vicky Campbell met at Trinity College of music, London. Hugh was born
in Dundee, Scotland, where he began playing the guitar at the age of
sixteen. In 1979 he moved to London to study at Trinity, and whilst there
won first prize in the prestigious Chamber Music Competition. Vicky was
born in London, and started her musical studies at the age of seven. She
won a place as a junior exhibitioner at Trinity at the age of thirteen,
initially studying bassoon and clarinet.
- The Campbells
started working together professionally as the Campbell Duo in 1988. Their
recitals have included first performances of many works, and there have
been a number of pieces written specifically for the Campbells,
thus expanding the existing repertoire of original music for flute and
guitar. They have been invited to play at many major festivals including Cannington, Prussia Cove, the Wirral and The Scottish International Guitar Festival. The duo have toured extensively throughout the UK, Europe
and Scandinavia.
